Details that deserve a closer look
A quick delivery can leave questions that take longer to answer.
Delivery vehicles stop, reverse, and turn in places where drivers may also be looking for an address or unloading packages. Describe the movement that led to the collision. A diagram showing the driveway, curb, lane, and vehicle positions can make your account clearer than the company name alone.
Keep the difference between a delivery complaint and an injury claim in mind. A support message about a damaged package or late order may not explain that a person was hurt. Save what you submitted, the response, and any reference number so the conversation can be reviewed accurately.

Do you handle crashes involving delivery vans and box trucks?
Yes. Tell us what kind of vehicle was involved and whether the driver was working. Delivery van, box truck, and other commercial vehicle injury claims can involve different businesses and policies. We start by identifying them.
Can I make a claim against the company on the delivery truck?
Maybe. The company name gives us something to investigate, but it does not prove liability. We need to understand the driver’s relationship with the company, what work was being done, and who caused the collision.
What if the delivery driver says they are an independent contractor?
That label does not answer every question. Contracts, the actual working arrangement, vehicle ownership, and insurance may still matter. Bring the information you have. Do not assume the claim is over because someone uses the word contractor.
What if a delivery driver was using a personal car?
Tell me that too. We will want to know which delivery service was involved, what the driver was doing at the time, and what policies might apply. Passenger rideshare coverage should not be assumed to apply to a delivery trip.
A delivery van backed into me. What should I save?
Keep the photos, location, time, witness information, and report number. If you know of nearby cameras, write that down promptly. Save messages from the company and insurers. You can call before you have collected everything.
Should I speak with the delivery company’s adjuster?
Find out who they represent and what they are requesting. You can ask questions before agreeing to a recorded statement or signing a release. Your own insurer may have separate requirements. Bring both sets of communications to your review.
Does the company have to pay all my bills?
Responsibility, the nature of your losses, and available insurance need to be established. A delivery vehicle’s involvement alone does not guarantee payment. Let’s review the facts before making promises about a result.

Describe where it was parked and how it affected the scene. Was a lane blocked, a sight line obstructed, or a door open? Those details may matter, but a parked vehicle is not automatically responsible. Photos from a safe location can help show the road layout.
Can a doorbell camera help explain the collision?
It may capture an approach, turn, stop, or impact that is missing from other accounts. Note the address, approximate camera direction, and relevant time. Do not enter private property or access someone else’s account. Mention the camera promptly so appropriate preservation steps can be considered.
The company gave me a reference number. Is that an insurance claim?
Not necessarily. It could identify a customer-service complaint, an incident report, or a claim with an insurer. Ask who is handling it and what the number refers to. Save the exact name, contact details, and written response rather than assuming every department is handling the same issue.
